This
blog is about a workshop organized in Bucharest and Bourges following the
cooperation between the National University of Arts in Bucharest and Ecole Nationale
Supérieure d’Art in Bourges. This cooperation was initiated by artists and
professors from both schools: Florence Chevalier from ENSA – Bourges, and Iosif
Kyraly from UNARTE – Bucharest, with the help of the Erasmus programme. Daniel
Mihail Constantinescu, assistant at UNARTE – Bucharest, was also invited to
participate as coordinator. The workshop took place in two distinct timespans:
in May in Bucharest, and in October in Bourges. The aim of this workshop was to
guide students through a photo and video-based reflection on themes such as:
the present, memory, place, and transformation. This will be done using
photographs taken in Bucharest and Bourges and their immediate surroundings.
The strong aesthetic contrast between the urbanism of a large city like
Bucharest and the ancient heritage of Bourges will nourish the cultural and
artistic exchanges between the two groups of students, and help them understand
more clearly the relationship between the past, the present, and the
impressions about the future.
